Count Down!

18 hours more to go from the start of this entry! and 18 hours to what? OF COS IT'S GOTTA BE LIBERTE EMERGE 2009!

There seem to be this really complex feeling welling up inside me (and i'm very sure for all the rest). A mixture of excitement (the BIG DAY is finally coming!!!!), anxiety (oh yes the jitters), and also a sense of emptiness (the goal of our intense training and 'hardship' is finally here).

Looking back to the past 4 months or so (is it 4 months? anyway since Dec!), we can really witness the growth of every single one of us as a performer. The constant improvement that accompanies every bit of hardwork and effort put into perfecting our show marks the milestones of our journey towards Liberte emerge 2009. And very soon, we will be able to witness the fruit of all our labour. This defintely brings much joy and excitement. But at the same time, looking back on our journey and the idea of coming to an end of this exciting journey brings about some sense of emptiness in me.

But always look on the bright side of life (*whistles*)... the end of this journey is just the end of a chapter which marks the start of a new chapter. So let us all look forward to this new chapter that is about to start. And no matter which directions we will head into, this entire Liberte experience is here to stay and we will always be the group of funky people who did Liberte emerge 2009.

Would like to also sieze the opportunity to thank everyone who's involved in this annual production of CAC Voices. It's all everyone's effort and contribution that had seen Liberte growing through its infant stage to her upcoming celebration tomorrow (or rather later today!).

Basically THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

Tech Run 5!!!!

Is it tech run five? i think so. It was the eve of valentines therefore we saw the disappearence of some people and others who rushed off after the tech run like jimmy. So, jim. Who's the tragic.... i mean, lucky girl??? or is it a guy? =X

I/We apologise for the absence of photographs to make this entry more interesting which is why i am going to compensate with vids and a whole lot of nonsensical remarks.

Anyways in the wake of valentines, a lot of people's soul have picked up and vacated on emerge. Nonetheless, there were comendable improvements especially for some items like.. Jing Wu Men

if anyone thinks they're no good now, you should look at them when they had their very first lesson infront of the glass walls at SDE with extra people sitting down and laughing away at their lack of psychomotor coordination although their own abilities to dance is quite dubious.

There's a lot of behind the scenes action during dance practices. There was the time when the JWM troupe comically try to learn the body wave but ended up looking like a noob body contortionist. There were multiple incidences of when they exasperate Gaby-our dance guru- by reinventing the moves which, turn out to be like OMGWTFBBQ. Things are very different now because these boys have improved leaps and bounds.

During vocal prac, we see project director keeonn's face change like the sunny weather turning grey. Marcus logistics running up and down like a dog. Or one of our very very adorable members running into the glass doors. =X

The logic goes that we're all preparing for a concert for people who will be, quote gaby, "watching with untainted eyes" therefore, they dont giva shit about how far we've come. Moral of the story, attend dance and vocal camp.

Everyone has put in their effort. Some has put in infinitely more effort for emerge. Who else but the committee. Thank you =)

Of course, we're still making improvements all the time. Everyone, GAMBATE!!!

4 Days to Emerge 2009

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Ahh yes, it's another update of our practices while time continues to tick and brings us that much closer to the concert. It's getting a bit stressful with schoolwork to balance as well, and anxiety kicks in too. *bites fingernails*

But rest assured we'll all do our utmost best to bring you a very entertaining and fun night! :D
Okay! Time for a countdown, it's about 2 weeks away from 23rd Feb, THE DAY. With each practice, one can really see the improvement in all the performances and the hard work each performer put in, regardless of vocalist and instrumentalist. There was more chemistry between the band and the vocalists as compared to last week.
The more exciting thing was, after the tech run on Fri, we all made a trip down to Lunar to check out the stage and practice with the lightings and all. The atmosphere and feeling was very much different from the practices we had in school. We had a feel of the 'real thing', making us desire to give it our all until the day of the concert :D
Here are some photos of the practice at Lunar!

How was it? Do you feel the atmosphere and high-ness of the concert already? Of course, we're not in our costumes and the lightings are not really there yet, so the feel may not be so great. But it's just exciting to imagine what will happen on that day itself, isn't it? :)
Yes, tickets are already on sale. If you have friends from VOICES, approach them for tickets to show your support! Alternatively, we are setting up a booth in NUS Arts Faculty from 12-6pm, starting 9 Feb.
Do show us your support and come down for some fun to release some exam stress :D

Tech-run 3 afterthoughts

Emerge Concert 2009 Countdown: 23 days!

Tech run 3 held last friday was a successful one. It was also the first time the vocalists get to rehearse with the band members. Vocalists and the band have to learn to coordinate with each other so that programme transitions can run smoothly. And 3 cheers for the band, the drums and electric guitars had really liften up the atmosphere and made the whole session high-HiGh-HIGH.

Apart from the improvements in singing, more polished dance and stage performances were presented compared to the previous tech-runs. Be sure to catch the sexy and macho dance performances on the coming Emerge Concert 2009!

Below are some snapshots taken:

Tech Run 2 Afterthoughts And Random Musings

A little over four weeks to "Emerge 2009" and concert preparations drills are already in full swing. Here's a quick rundown of what have kept us busy and happy for the past week. :)

First Wave Of Publicity Up!

If you have been attending school regularly, you would probably have caught sight of a reasonably disturbing "Caged" poster with a very creepy-looking girl dominating the foreground.

Our peers have spent a greater part of their day getting around school and putting the posters up. For enduring the intellectual intimidation (at certain areas), countless staircases and sweltering heat, props to you guys! And for those who disappeared just when Steph was asking for volunteers, you all have to do PT with Keeonn to improve performance stamina. Just kidding.

Why feature a feature-less, scarlet-lipped female for a singing concert, you ask. It's attention-grabbing; and those lips suggest some latent vocal potential... a potential that can only be attested for if you attend our concert. Therefore, book a ticket. :)

Promo Video Filming

No good concert can go... without a kick-ass promotional video to boot.

Leave that in the hands of a bunch of creative, resourceful and enthusiastic individuals, you get potentially awesome footage.

Some snapshots of the filming process added below.
But we all know stills cannot beat animation, so keep your eyes peeled for the final product!

Practise, Practise, Practise!

Cap 5.0 say what? Us here at CAC Voices, only acknowledge "Emerge 2009" as valid reason for school attendance.

Of course I am kidding. We are geeks who are too afraid to not fulfill our responsibilities as students.
Hence the ardour for the theme "Caged".

Movements on the publicity front aside, our peers have also been hard at work polishing their items and upping performance standards... everyday is a training day for "Emerge 2009".

As mentioned in our first blog post, our practices culminate into a Tech Run assessment every Friday. Here are some snapshots of what occurred during today's session.

The process of preparation-and-evaluation is not a bed of roses, but being so, drives us even harder in bringing out our best for "Emerge 2009".

Today was Tech Run 2.

Another tech run closer to "Emerge 2009" standard. :)

Practices before our lst tech run

Our lst tech run was on 16 jan, fri. After which, we will be having runs on every fridays till our Emerge concert. Before our runs, we have had vocal trainings with our respective vocal instructors. They are really very professional. Really have to thank our 2 vocal instructors who have dedicated so much of their times to us during the holidays and even after term starts=)

Our lst tech run for Emerge!

We had our lst tech run for the concert ytd on 16 jan at 7pm. The room for our tech run was quite small. It didn't have enough space for all of us, so some of us had to wait outside. As we had to wait patiently for our turn to sing, some of us used the waiting time to practise more with their group mates, as more practices will make things more perfect =)

Here are some of the shots during our tech run....

After all the performances, we sat down for a debrief of each individual songs, mainly in terms of our stage presence. The debrief was important as it highlighted to us some minute things during our performance which the performancers might had overlooked. We will learn from the comments we received and hope that the 2nd tech run will be much better!! Gambatte everybody!!
